There’s something special about winter in the forest. When the summer sounds have faded and winter whites drape everything like sheets over furniture stored for the season. I recently had a winter family portrait session with a brave and fun family out in the wonderland that northern Michigan has become.
I took them to my favorite place near my home thick with pines. The forest here is in a pattern, tall skinny trunks line up in rows with little underbrush. It’s a peaceful place, full of life and space that creates a hush over you as you step into it. Even the children were in awe and I felt the magic of the place take over. It was an uplifting shoot and I no longer will consider my photo season over when the first flakes fall. Nature’s white soft box was the perfect setting for photos worthy of being on a Christmas card.
